Chinese House – Phnom Penh

China House was built in 1905 by a successful local merchant. His family enjoyed the magnificent house over looking the Mekong until the 1970’s when they abandoned during the downfall of the Khmer Republic when the Khmer Rouge occupied.

Later in 2005 it said that one of the descendants purchased and restored the House as part of the historical preservation efforts throughout the city.

Behind the colonial facades you’ll find exposed rafters, distressed walls, antique Chinese furniture, and eclectic tiles. Highly Instagramable, the Chinese House is home to sophisticated late-night gatherers and has emerged as a playground for the local art and fashion scene.
